Mission
To establish a center of excellence for research, development and engineering that well suits the present and future needs of the Kingdom in areas encompassing a broad spectrum of applied research in water resources, environment, and marine studies.
Objectives
The primary objective of the Center is to develop the most effective and suitable technologies that contribute effectively to the improvement of water utilization and conservation, and to assist the government as well as the private sector in efforts to protect the environment and preserve the natural resources of the kingdom.
Areas of Focus
The purview of research encompasses the following major areas:
Improve water use efficiency and conservation and contribute to solving the immediate and long term water problems for different purposes in the Kingdom.
Evaluate specific environmental concerns and provide workable solutions to the environmental problems they might pose.
Conduct research aiming to understand the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea marine environments, and assist government and industry in the assessment of natural and man-made impacts on the marine environment.
Develop integrated modeling systems for environmental planning and management.
Conduct technical workshops, seminars, and short courses at both the national and international levels.
